Meghan Markle was ‘unresponsive’ to Queen Consort Camilla’s attempts to advise and support her when she first joined the Royal Family, a new book has claimed.
Author Angela Levin claimed in a new biography of the former Duchess of Cornwall said that Camilla organized lunches with the former actress and did her best to make her feel welcomed but her words were ‘ignored.’
In the book ‘Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall: A Royal Survivor,’ the author claims that the new Queen Consort was keen to help the Duchess of Sussex at the start of her relationship with Prince Harry as she also struggled to be accepted by The Firm when she first joined The Firm.
“She doesn’t want to see anyone struggling and she is fond of Meghan,” a source told Levin.
She also said that King Charles, the former Prince of Wales, enjoyed Meghan’s company and often spoke to her about arts and theater.
Despite Camilla’s great efforts to help, the Duchess of Sussex ‘seemed bored’ and ‘preferred to go her own way.’
Levin also acknowledged Meghan’s reputation for being an incredibly hard worker, mentioning the cookbook she made contributions to which been collected by survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017.
Camilla invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to lunch at Highgrove to pay tribute to Meghan’s impressive work with the Grenfell community, with the Queen Consort’s friend Lucia describing it as a ‘really nice gesture.’
Levin’s account comes as another royal book claims Camilla ‘spluttered over her tea’ when the Duke of Sussex suggested bringing a mediator to heal the rift between himself and Meghan and the royals.
