The Duchess of Sussex has shared how exhausted she was during her pregnancies as she praised her friend Serena Williams for looking ‘so sexy’ while expecting.
Meghan Markle also talked about the double standards many women face when they are called ‘ambitious’ in the first episode of her Archetypes podcast entitled ‘The Misconception of Ambition with Serena Williams.
In the video, the tennis legend said that she ‘loved being pregnant’ and the duchess went on to praise her when she posed naked for Vanity Fair.
“Forget it. Yeah. Yeah. It’s just like everything. You made pregnancy looks so sexy. I just waddled around. I was just tired. So tired. Oh my god,” Meghan expressed.
The duchess gave birth to her son Archie Harrison in May 2019. She gave birth to Lilibet in June last year.
Serena, who welcomed her daughter Olympia in 2017, started the discussion on pregnancy and said: “I was like, oh, I love this. The nothing, nothing’s oh, I’m so happy. Like, I was literally.”
The Duchess of Sussex then referred to Serena’s 2017 Vanity Fair cover, in which the athlete posed naked with a jewelry wrapped around her body.
“Oh, with the belly chain,” Meghan said, to which Serena replied: “One of… those women.”
The former actress said “forget it,” and Serena added: “I was the annoying one. You were under a lot of stress.”
“Yeah, it’s true,” the mother-of-two said.
Meghan first fell pregnant after her wedding to the Duke of Sussex in 2018. They announced the happy news before their first international royal tour that year.
During this period, Harry and Meghan renovated Frogmore Cottage in Windsor and moved into their home.
Archie Harrison is seventh in line to the throne while his sister Lilibet Diana is eighth.
