The Duchess of Sussex’s former friend reveals that she regrets introducing the Suits actress to Prince Harry, adding that ‘it’s all my fault’.
It was in 2013 when Lizzie Cundy met Meghan Markle at a pre-dinner for a charity event.
The two quickly got along and they decided to meet again and become great friends, with the former actress saying she would ‘love an English boyfriend.’
Lizzie revealed that she first tried to set Meghan up with English football coach and former player Ashley Cole but it didn’t work out.
She then introduced Meghan to Prince Harry and the two immediately started a relationship.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, Lizzie said: “I wish I never introduced Harry [to her.] It’s all my fault! I’m sorry Camilla. I’m sorry everyone!”
Lizzie, who claims she has been ‘ghosted’ by Meghan, also accused the Sussexes of ‘bringing down the monarchy.’
“This could have been screened when the Queen was alive and I feel they’re just trying to ruin her 70 years of amazing work. I feel like they’ve got to get their own identity – stop whining, stop moaning.”
While she has been critical of the couple in the past, Lizzie said she will watch the ‘appalling’ Netflix show.
In the teaser for the docu-series, the Duke of Sussex holds his head as heavily pregnant Meghan stands in the background.
“It’s a dirty game,” he narrates. “The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution this feeding frenzy” as photo and videos of the late Princess Diana and the Princess of Wales Kate being hounded by paparazzi are shown.
The clip also shows a photo of Meghan and Harry looking alarmed as they sit in a vehicle before the Duchess says: “I realized they are never going to protect you.”
Meghan is seen crying again while Harry says: “I was terrified. I did not want history to repeat itself.”
