Tragedy struck Hollywood after Matthew Perry was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Saturday afternoon at the age of 54.
Sources told TMZ that the Friends star, who played Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom, died in his house after playing pickleball. Police said that it no drugs were discovered at the scene and that it didn’t look like foul play was involved.
Celebrities and Friends fans are paying to the actor, including Morgan Fairchild, who played Chandler’s mother.
Writing on X, formerly Twitter, Fairchild wrote: “I’m heartbroken about the untimely death of my ‘son’, Matthew Perry.
“The loss of such a brilliant young actor is a shock. I’m sending love & condolences to his friends & family, especially his dad, John Bennett Perry, who I worked with on Flamingo Road & Falcon Crest.”
Other Friends cast members also shared tributes.
Maggie Wheeler, who played Chandler’s ex, Janice, took to Instagram and wrote: “What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry.”
“The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared,” Wheeler added.
Paget Brewster, whose character Cathy was romantically involved with Chandler, wrote: “I’m so very sad to hear about @MatthewPerry. He was lovely to me on Friends and every time I saw him in the decades after. Please read his book. It was his legacy to help. He won’t rest in peace though.. he’s already too busy making everyone laugh up there.”
Paul Rudd, who played Mike Hannigan, Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow)’s boyfriend, wrote on Instagram: “Words can’t express how saddened I am to hear of Matthew’s passing. You will be missed so so so dearly.”
