Matthew McConaughey is being praised by parents everywhere after he revealed that he banned his children from social media.
While platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram are becoming a big part of creative and social life not only for adults but also for teenagers and pre-teens, the father-of-three has revealed that he and his wife Camila prohibited their son Levi from entering the world of social media until he was 15.
Sharing his strict rules and parenting strategy on the Today show with Jenna Bush and Hoda Kotb, McConaughey said: “Oh (Levi) wanted (to be on social media) early on, probably when he was 12, definitely 13. Definitely 14. And we waited till he was 15.”
Explaining their decision, he continued: “We tried to look at the upfalls and the downfalls. It’s not like sending your kid off to college, but it is like sending your kids off with a bunch of strangers into the world.”
Parents who introduced their children to social media have become aware of its pros and cons, and many were quick to praise the actor for his parenting techniques.
One parent said: “I wish this man would come to schools and talk to parents. I taught middle school. I saw the negative impacts social media had on kids. My child had none of it until he was 16.”
Another wrote: “I love that so many celebrities are being good examples about waiting when it comes to phones and social media.”
A third said: “I appreciate the example he’s setting delaying social media for his son, and then using discretion what you share. Good parenting!”

Well done parents. Taking a strong stand like this one not easy , when one s kids are faced with so much in their schools and hang out areas out of school . They might get bullied by misfits, who think they are stupid or fools not to compromise to what so many out there are involved with. At 15 >>>>> , maybe that much more mature within to negotiate this raging era , appropriately. Keep praying for yourselves as parents and for your children wisely Fathef God cares.
