Maddy Cifelli went viral after she shared her ‘maternity ward’ story on TikTok and described how awkward it was when her ex and his wife entered the room.
“When your ex and his wife are in THE SAME labor and delivery room,” she wrote on the viral clip as she recounted what happened to her.
Recalling the experience, the mother said: “I had a lot of complications with this pregnancy. I’m only 25 weeks pregnant so I’m on their high risk – they just want to take extra precautions with me.”
Maddy continued: “The hospital has been completely crazy – the ER was packed, labor and delivery were packed.
“So it was all great at first and (her partner) Cody and I got our room, it was great.
“I literally told him that the last time I was here I had to share a room with someone and it was a horrible experience because she just kept yelling the whole time.”
However, the hospital was very busy at that time and they were told that they would be sharing a room again.
“Then they walk in… we make eye contact,” she recounted.
“Luckily there’s a curtain in between us but it was just so awkward – like I just felt like I couldn’t talk. So Cody and I were literally sat there whispering.”
Maddy explained that her ex was not a recent one and they were together way back in secondary school.
“I just thought it was pretty ironic and awkward,” the mom added.
Internet users were left in hysterics, with one TikToker writing: “That’s when you say ‘I haven’t seen you in nine months.’”
Another wrote: “Can’t even imagine. I screamed the majority of my 24 hour labor. I would feel terrible to inflict my screams on someone other than my mum.”
A third shared: “My husband’s ex was in the room next door when I delivered. They came in with her chart not mine by accident.”
