A man has made the headlines after proposing to his girlfriend using a ring made of his wisdom tooth.
While engagement rings come in all types and shapes, one man took the idea of being creative to a whole new level by crafting a ring made of a wisdom tooth.
Carlee Leifkes and Lucas Unger are a nonconventional couple from California who – unanimously – decided that diamonds are overrated and that wisdom teeth are much cooler.
And so, the couple contacted a jewelry maker and inquired whether a wisdom tooth could be turned into an engagement ring.
Thrilled by their idea, the only thing they then had to do was find a wisdom tooth. Fortunately, Lucas’s father had kept his son’s perfectly preserved wisdom tooth after it was removed when he was a child.
After the exchange, the couple took the ring to a jewelry maker who made the most out of the bizarre request.
“When we’d spoken about it, I’d said diamonds are so overrated. My birthstone is a diamond,” Carlee recalled in an interview with BuzzFeed.
“I don’t need one to prove how much someone loves me. He’s already moved all the way from Canada to do that.”
After their plan was executed perfectly, Lucas was finally able to propose to Carlee and – naturally – she couldn’t wait to say ‘yes’.
Carlee has since also shared a picture of her special engagement ring on Facebook.
“So incredibly excited to marry my best friend, the man who knows that his wisdom tooth means so much more to me than a diamond,” she wrote.
“Can’t wait to be a weirdo with you and dance our way through life to Thee Oh Sees and Black Sabbath.
“We have never been the ‘traditional couple,’ why the heck start now?”
