A man who proposed to his girlfriend during their trip to Disney World has revealed how a little girl behind them broke down in tears because she couldn’t see the fireworks display.
The man explained that he and his fiancée waited for hours for the fireworks to start but when a family arrived and he didn’t let them take their spots, the girl’s father got furious.
“My fiancée and I had just gotten engaged at DisneyWorld in Orlando. We’re from the UK and this trip was expensive. It was my fiancée’s first time and she’d always dreamed of going,” the man wrote.
The man said that he and his fiancée waited in front of the castle for two hours to have the best view of the display.
“We had about 5 minutes to go when a family started shoving through behind us. I felt them shove my back and I hobbled over the line, so quickly stepped back.
“They were sort of squished against us and the people behind them. Just then, I heard a sigh and a mutter of ‘a**holes’ coming from behind me. I looked around to check it out.”
The man said that he would have normally moved to let a family go in front of him but they were waiting for the show for two hours and it meant so much to his fiancée.
When he made enough space for the child, her dad also pushed through but they were immediately sent back by staff – leaving the young girl in tears.
“I also told him we had been here for a long time to get a good view and he should do the same. This enraged him. He started to say things like ‘people are cruel’ and ‘what lovely people you folks are, I hope you’re very pleased with yourselves.”
People on Reddit were quick to share their thoughts on the situation, with one person writing: “You and your partner also deserve to see the show. Magic is for everyone. Dad should have planned better if this was important to him and his daughter.”
Another said: “If they wanted to be at the front why don’t they go early? Why didn’t the father put the kid on his shoulders? They clearly were entitled people trying to use their kids as an excuse to steal your places.”
