A man who could pass for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s brother has spoken out about the consequences of his looks.
54-year-old Antonio Muratore from Milan, Italy, is often mobbed by fans of the Hollywood star thanks to his uncanny resemblance to the actor.
Not only does the fitness enthusiast have a similar physique and head shape but he also got the same tattoos The Rock has on his arms and upper chest.
“It’s an incredible situation to look like him. In general I’m quite a private person and I don’t like a lot of attention – but I never tire of this because it makes people happy. I would do anything to meet him one day,” Antonio said.
“It was about ten years ago when a friend first told me I looked like the Rock. Over the years people started to stop and ask me for pictures wherever I would go. It’s been at a hotel, in restaurants, on the beach – it happens continuously.
“Once someone followed me down the road for 15 minutes. That was a bit stressful. But normally I’m always happy to take a picture. I feel very lucky to look like him because he is a great person, a champion in sport and in life.”
The man also revealed that he was once mobbed by The Rock’s fans after showing up at a movie featuring the actor.
“When the light went on the kids saw me and started to scream, ‘The Rock! The Rock!’” he recalled. “Everyone ran back into the cinema for a picture. It was a crazy situation.”
Antonio also claimed that he was once cast to play The Rock’s body double until the plans were ruined by the pandemic.
He continued: “When I am on the beach and people see my tattoos, everyone stops me and wants a picture.
“Or when I am wearing my sunglasses. It happens continuously. I get treated like a celebrity all the way through summer.”
While Antonio admitted he sometimes reveals he is not the real deal at the start, he plays along on other occasions. Sometimes, people even want to take photos with him after he’s already admitted he’s not The Rock.
“When people call me as his name and recognize me as his double I feel happy I look like somebody great. When I’m feeling bad, just when someone says, ‘Hey look, it’s The Rock’ – and I am happy again,” he concluded.
