A man from Houston, Texas, was forced to defend his relationship with his wife after people online said that she is ‘too hot’ for him.
Scott and his wife Divine from the Philippines have been together for seven years. They started their long-distance relationship after she sent him a message on Facebook thinking he was someone else.
Divine then moved to the U.S. and they tied the knot.
Two years ago, they started sharing TikTok videos about their love story but critics were quick to accuse them of being ‘fake.’
Many speculated that Divine was seeking a green card or after Scott’s money. Some even said that Divine is ‘too good-looking’ for Scott but the couple continued to share their secrets for a strong and happy marriage.
“We talk things out, and no one leaves. We stay and grow together,” they said in one of their YouTube videos.
Scott was diagnosed with scleroderma, an autoimmune connective tissue and rheumatic disease that ‘morphed’ his appearance. It started when he was 13 but he said it is ‘not expected to get any worse.’
In regards to negative comments, Scott said: “Because you keep seeing the same thing over and over again. There’s just no effect anymore.
“We’re just two normal people…there’s always going to be someone out there that’s not going to think about it (your appearance).”
Divine also said that it is ‘hurtful’ to think many people assume she is only with her husband for financial reasons.
From ‘are you s*xually active?’ and ‘does your wife ever wash her hair?’ to ‘are you a real couple?’, critics don’t stop.
To make light of the situation, Scott and Divine post snarky comments. In one of their TikTok videos, Scott said: “Don’t let your eyes deceive you, she’s way older than you think she is.”
The couple also have many fans who support their relationship. One person said: “Wow, you are both so classy! Very nice couple indeed.”
Another wrote: “You guys are an adorable couple.”
