Nicholas Bostic has shared how terrified he was during the heroic deed but he did it anyway to save the five children.

He said that when he noticed smoke halfway up the staircase of the home, he feared that he wouldn’t be able to reach the top of the stairs to Seionna Barrett, 18, who was taking care of her siblings and their friend.

The Good Samaritan didn’t think twice when he dashed into the building to save as many lives as he could, taking Barrett and three other children – Shaylee, 13, Kaleia, 1, and Shaylee’s friend Livian, 13 – to safety.

However, 6-year-old Kaylani was still trapped inside the building.

Hearing her cries, Nicholas quickly got rid of his fears and came running to her rescue.

Speaking to Fox News, he said: “When I saw the smoke, it was already halfway up the staircase. It scared me a lot, but then I started hearing Kaylani’s cries.”

“I doubled my shirt over and put my hands in front of me and with my ears wide open,” he continued.

Nicholas ran inside and looked under closet and beds but couldn’t find the young girl.

“I thought, ‘I don’t want to die here,’” he shared, adding that he also knew that he was the only one who could save Kaylani.

“I found her and I carried her snug fit in my arms up the stairs. And I did fall over the last step. We fell and we got back up.”

The heroic man said he broke open a window, wrapped Kaylani around his side and jumped with her, breaking the girl’s fall with his own body.

The children’s father, David Barrett, told the Good Samaritan that he is now “officially part of the family.”

A GoFundMe to pay for Bostic’s medical care and help the family replace their belongings raised over $470,000.

Speaking to the Washington Post, the father said: “We feel very blessed for what Nick did. He’s a real hero, and my daughter’s a real hero for waking the kids up. I don’t like to think about what might have happened if Nick hadn’t shown up. I’m grateful beyond words.”
