JUST IN: South African Lion King Composer Reveals That He Met Meghan Markle But CAN’T Remember Speaking To Her About Nelson Mandela

The South African Lion King composer has revealed that he met Meghan Markle at the London premiere but insisted that he can’t remember speaking to her about Nelson Mandela.

This comes after the film’s only South African actor told Mail Online that he was ‘baffled’ by the Duchess of Sussex’s suggestion his country had celebrated the moment she tied the knot with Prince Harry.

Composer Lebohang Morake, also known as Lebo M, said he spoke to Prince Harry and Meghan for ‘less than a minute’ at the West End launch of the movie.

In Meghan’s interview in The Cut, she suggested that she had been pulled aside by a South African cast member who told her: “I just need you to know: ‘When you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets the same we did when Mandela was freed from prison.’”

But the only South African cast member, Dr. John Kani, has spoken out and denied it was he who made the comments.

Nelson Mandela’s grandchild also slammed the Duchess of Sussex, saying the release of his grandfather after 27 years in prison because of his belief did not ‘equate’ with her tying the knot with a prince.

Speaking to Mail Online, Mr. Morake said: “Indeed I was at The Lion King 2019 premiere and met the Royals. I cannot comment on the matter as it was three years ago and I don’t remember details of that conversation which was less than a minute, except the Royals were going to South Africa or Botswana.

“I’m the only South African directly associated with both The Lion King films and the Broadway productions.”

The 58-year-old also said that he doubted whether the issue over the former actress’ controversial interview were much of significance to South Africa.

“As a South African, I’m not sure if this is important to most of us facing serious domestic issues. I’d like to not be dragged into this issue from three years ago either way,” he added.
