Kristen Bell has defended her decision to let her two young daughters drink non-alcoholic beer after being slammed by other parents.
The actress appeared on an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show and revealed that she allows her daughters to drink non-alcoholic beer.
“We’ve been at restaurants where she’s said: ‘Do you have any non-alcoholic beer?’ And I’m like, maybe we just keep that for home time,” Bell said.
“But then I’m sort of like, you can judge me if you want, I’m not doing anything wrong. That’s your problem,” the actress added.
Bell also revealed that her husband Dax Shepard would consume non-alcoholic beer while taking care of their children.
“(Dax is) a recovering addict, but he likes non-alcoholic beer, so he’d pop one open, he’d have [their daughter] on his chest, and we’d walk and look at the sunset,” Bell explained.
“As a baby she was pawing at it, and sometimes she’d suck on the rim of it. So I think it feels to her like something special, something daddy, something family.”
But the revelation did not go down well with her fans who took to social media to slam the couple.
The actress was not bothered by the negative reaction and even defended her decision. During an appearance on Armchair Expert podcast with Shepard, she said: “What’s so cute about you to me is that you are so logical and fact-driven and evidence-based — but if people want to be angry about something, they’re going to be angry about it.
“When they have tried to order [non-alcoholic beers] at a restaurant or something, it’s because of a very specific connection to you… Because first of all, they’re educated on addiction and what substances are and how they affect your body and how scary they are and what they can do to you.”
Shepard then said that they won’t be affected by the opinions of others.
“If anyone has a problem that I let my kids drink NA beer sometimes, that’s fine with me. I’m not going to change based on what anybody else says because this is our family and not your business,” he added.
