But for the past several months, the actress had been battling colon cancer, which is also called a ‘silent killer’ as symptoms do not show until the condition is already advanced.

Her children, daughter Lillie and son True, made the heartbreaking announcement that the 71-year-old icon had passed away as they paid tribute to their ‘incredible, fierce and loving mother.’

“She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead.”

Scientologists believe that the late actress reached ‘superhuman status’ as she made it to the church’s highest level of learning.

Alley is well-known for her role in the hit 80s sitcom Cheers, where she played Rebecca Howe.

In 1979, she joined the church of Scientology to help with her addiction, according to Page Six.

The news outlet explained that because of her longstanding relationship with the church, she achieved the highest level of learning – Operating Lethan Level VIII.

Tony Ortega, who writes Scientology blog The Underground Bunker, told the publication: “OT VIII is the highest you can go on the ‘Bridge to Total Freedom. It can cost between $1,000,000 to $2,000,000 to go all the way up and it can take you 20 years.”

He continued: “Scientologists are told that, if they can reach OT VIII, they will be ’cause over matter, energy, space, and time,’ which translates to various superhuman abilities.”
