King Charles ‘could not invite’ the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to his Coronation because of their Netflix docu-series, a royal expert said.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun that it is ‘business as usual’ for the Royals after they continued their engagements following Harry and Meghan’s bombshell teasers for their six-part documentary.
But he warned that the Palace won’t continue with such an approach, adding further allegations from the couple could result in the Royal Family ‘cutting all ties’ with them.
“The question is, what can the royals do about it? Harry will always remain a prince,” Mr. Fitzwilliams told The Sun.
“The only thing they can do is not invite them to the Coronation, and cut all ties – a clean cut from the Sussexes. Essentially, that’s all they can do.”
He admitted that he doubted the Royal Family would release a statement once the documentary is released.
“It isn’t in the interests of the Royal Family, unless in the most extreme circumstances, to comment,” he continued.
Mr. Firtwilliams also described it as ‘an international circus’ and that it is a no-win situation for the Royals.
The Royal Family is braced for more allegations from the Sussexes when the first trailer for their series was dropped, with Harry speaking of a ‘hierarchy in the family’ and ‘a dirty game,’ suggesting royal insiders ‘leaked and planted’ stories about them.
The Duke also warned: “We know the full truth.”
Royal expert Michael Cole also said that King Charles may consider revoking Harry and Meghan’s titles if the couple attacked Kate, the Princess of Wales.
“What will trigger that is if there are direct attacks on his (Prince William’s) wife Catherine, the Princess of Wales, I think that might trigger it,” he said.
