Kate Middleton has apologized for the confusion that her Mother’s Day photo has caused as she admitted that she edited the image.

The Palace has been pressured to issue a statement regarding the image after agencies, including Reuters, AP, and Getty Images ‘killed’ the photo over fears that it had been digitally manipulated.

In the Mother’s Day portrait, the Princess of Wales can be seen smiling with her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The image was the first official photo of the mother-of-three since her abdominal surgery two months ago.

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” the Princess of Wales said.

“I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”

Royal sources explained that the image was ‘an amateur, family photograph taken by the Princess of Wales.’

Insiders also said that Kate and her husband Prince William wanted to offer an ‘informal’ picture of the family and she tried to make ‘minor adjustments.’

“The Wales family spent Mother’s Day together and had a wonderful day,” an aide said.

This comes after Press Association joined AFP, Getty Images, EPA, Reuters and AP in withdrawing the portrait.
