Kanye West has been slammed online after fans noticed that his new Yeezy line for GAP has been presented in large trash bags.
Responding to the photos of the rapper’s clothing stuffed in black plastic bags, social media users expressed their disappointment and confusion over his ‘request.’
Many also questioned why the products were not properly folded or displayed in hangers.
The backlash started after Owen Langan took to Twitter and shared a photo of the items, adding a claim that a “sales associated said Ye got mad when he saw they had it on hangers and this is how he wanted it.”
“They won’t help you find (your) size too, you just have to just dig through everything,” he added.
After seeing photos of the merchandise, which the rapper revealed was “inspired by the homeless,” fans then joked that “Kanye got people thrifting at Gap.”
Others also said that “workin at Yeezy Gap is gonna be hell” while others said that the rapper “knows what he’s doing” as he previously worked at The Gap.
Another tweeted: “Kanye has a whole song about how much he hated working at the Gap. Why would he make Gap employees’ lives harder? Whole store is about to look like laundry baskets threw up. They’re gonna have one cashier and everybody else doing recovery.”
But many suggested that Kanye was simply trying to “eliminate the maddening perpetual cycle of constantly refolding and hanging and presenting clothing to a corporate vision standard.”
One Twitter user thinks that the rapper is “one of the smartest humans on planet earth” by making his new line go viral.
In January, a spokesperson for Yeezy GAP said that the rapper “has a deep and solution-oriented commitment to addressing issues surrounding homelessness.”
