Johnny Depp is reportedly set to pay the sum to the charities he chose: The Amazonia Fund Alliance, Make-A-Film Foundation, Red Feather, The Painted Turtle, and Tetiaroa Society.

The Make-A-Film foundation is similar to Make-A-Wish foundation and helps teenagers and children who have life-threatening or serious health conditions to create movie legacies by working with noted actors, directors and writers.

The actor reportedly worked with the foundation on a short movie in the past.

Depp’s donations to Tetiaroa Society and The Painted Turtle are a nod to his two personal heroes – Marlon Brando and Paul Newman.

Brando founded Tetiaroa Society to preserve cultures and ecosystems in coastal and island communities. Newman helped set up the Painted Turtle, which is a summer camp for children with life-limiting or chronic illnesses.

Amazonia and Red Feather help indigenous communities to be self-sustaining and maintaining their heritage across America.

Depp and Heard initially faced off in a UK court where the case was decided in the Aquaman actress’ favor. They continued their battle in the US and the Edward Scissorhands actor emerged victorious.

After a six-week trial, Depp was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.

The former couple both launched appeals but settled the case in December last year.

Heard said that even if her appeal had been a success, she ‘simply cannot go through’ another trial. She also said that her settlement, which involved paying $1 million to her ex-husband, was ‘not an act of concession.’
