Johnny Depp has finally unveiled his first self-portrait ever and fans are quick to say the same thing about the image.
Titled Five, the portrait debuted on the social media pages of Castle Fine Arts on Thursday and will be marketed as a time-limited edition.
Buyers are given only 13 days from July 20 to buy the piece.
According to The Independent, $200 from each sale in the exhibition will be donated to Mental Health America, and the costs of prints featuring Depp’s signature start from $2,500.
Sharing the artwork on Instagram, Castle Galleries wrote: “THE WAIT IS OVER – ‘FIVE’ BY JOHNNY DEPP. Today, Johnny Depp debuts ‘Five,’ his deeply personal self portrait, as an exclusive time-limited edition.”
It continued: “Available exclusively from Castle Fine Art for 13 days only.”
In an update, Castle Galleries said: “What a response we’ve seen so far! If you’re in a queue on our website, don’t worry it will be worth the wait.”
The self-portrait is created in the style of Depp’s previous ‘Friends and Heroes’ art series, which featured images of pop culture icons.
Speaking about the project, the Pirates of the Caribbean star revealed that ‘Five’ was inspired by a photograph he took at a Christian Dior Perfumes photoshoot in 2015.
He said that he absorbed himself in completing the piece as a means of creative healing.
“I did this at (illustrator) Ralph Steadman’s in his studio around 2021,” Depp explained.
“This self-portrait – it was created at a time that was, let’s say a bit dark, a bit confusing. I looked at it and I don’t know why, I thought it needed something else. It needed further… information.”
He added: “When I felt the need to write basically the counting down of the years, essentially I just wrote ‘five’ on there because I was just entering the fifth year of the madness.”
One fan commented: “I want this portrait so bad! LOVE Johnny!”
Another said: “I want that piece of artwork!! I just love how honest he is about who he is and not ashamed to be true… Such a very talented, handsome man.”
A third said: “I want it.”
