Johnny Depp, 59, and Joelle Rich, 37, are both shocked by split rumors as they are still dating, an insider exclusively told Us Weekly.
The source said that “nobody was more surprised by the reports they split than Joelle and Johnny,” adding that nothing has changed with their relationship.
The lawyer is “still very much in the picture” as they are “both loving the time they spend together,” the insider added.
News of the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s romance with the lawyer broke out earlier this year. At that time, a different source said that the couple met after working on Depp’s libel lawsuit.
The source told Us Weekly at that time: “Their chemistry is off the charts. It’s serious between them. They are the real deal.”
The insider also said that Rich was by the actor’s side during the defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
“There was no professional obligation for her being there. It was personal.”
Depp was previously married to Heard from 2015 to 2017. After only 15 months, the actress filed for divorce and obtained a temporary restraining order.
The Alice in Wonderland star has denied the allegations and ended up suing the UK publication The Sun after they called him a ‘wife beater’ in an article.
Rich was hired to represent Depp in the libel lawsuit but the actor lost the case.
In 2018, the Edward Scissorhands actor took his ex-wife to court over her Washington Post op-ed. He claimed that the article impacted his career negatively even though his name was not mentioned.
The Aquaman star also argued that she lost out on jobs after their split because of their legal battles.
In the end, a jury ruled in Depp’s favor after weeks of testimonies. It was announced that Depp would be awarded $10 million and $5 million in compensatory and punitive damages. Heard was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages.
