Johnny Depp has revealed his plans on whether he will return for another Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
Sources close to the 60-year-old actor said that working with Disney no longer interests him after the studio ‘dropped him’ when his ex-wife Amber Heard made claims against him.
His friends also say that he is done with Disney despite speculation about his return which reports suggested could earn him $20 million.
Last week, Disney Studios President Sean Bailey said that the studio was ‘noncommittal at this point’ about the return of the star.
Depp’s friend said: “They blind dropped him even though Amber had lied her a** off.”
Even though the actor said during the Cannes Film Festival that he does not feel being boycotted by Hollywood, he is still furious about the way Heard’s claims played out and has now decided that the best thing for him is to focus on a life away from the industry.
Depp’s pal also said that no matter how lucrative the offer is, the star will never agree to return to the studio.
The friend also said that it’s highly unlikely that the star will be interested in doing any studio movie again.
After years of legal battles against the Aquaman actress, Depp is now focusing on art, music, and directing arthouse films.
“I started to experience these circuses – we can call them carnivals – so long ago. Your life becomes a circus,” Depp said in Cannes last month.
“It’s not that you get used to the circus, but you realize there’s nothing you can do but inhale, exhale and accept what happens in the next steps. It’s still weird to me,” he added.
An insider also revealed: “He says he isn’t interested in speaking someone else’s words. He is interested in authentic expression of himself, through art and music at the moment. He’s got no interest in Hollywood at all.”
