Jada Pinkett Smith broke down in tears as she talked about her strong relationship with the late Tupac Shakur.
In an interview, Jada said that when they first met at school, they instantly felt a connection ‘as if we already knew each other.’ She revealed that they were so close they even believed they were ‘soulmates.’
On The Diary Of A CEO podcast by Steven Bartlett, Jada couldn’t contain her emotions as she shared a photo of her with Tupac and their late friend Maxine.
“Throughout our relationship we definitely had this beautiful closeness that was really intimate but never physically intimate,” Jada shared.
The actress also recalled an incident where they tried to kiss but it was ‘the most disgusting kiss between us both.’ She believes that not having physical intimacy may have been for the best.
“God was like ‘no I got a plan and that’s not part of the plan,’” she went on.
Tupac proposed marriage to Jada in a letter while he was serving a sentence at Rikers Island. Even though she turned him down, they continued their communication until a huge argument regarding his behavior post-prison resulted in their separation.
Their last conversation happened before Tupac’s passing in 1996 at the age of 25.
“I really took for granted that he would be living forever, he had already survived so much. I looked at Pac as being invincible at this point… That was the last time I spoke to him and you know what’s crazy, it meant absolutely nothing,” Jada expressed.
During the interview, she also opened up about her relationship with her husband, Will Smith, mentioning the differences in their ‘love languages.’
While the Hollywood actor believed in working hard to provide for them, she longed for emotional intimacy and wanted to ‘look in (Will’s) eyes and feel his love.’
