Jada Pinkett Smith has finally opened up about the shocking Oscars slap incident at the 2022 Academy Awards and how it showed a glimpse into her marriage with Will Smith.

The world was left shocked when The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor stormed the stage and slapped Rock on the face.

Before returning to his seat, Will warned: “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth!”

Because of Will’s actions, he has been banned from the Academy Awards ceremony for ten years. The Oscars also instituted new crisis management measures for events in the future.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Jada has finally shared her reaction and said: “I thought, ‘This is skit.’”

But she immediately realized that everything was real when she watched her husband go back to his seat.

When they finally had a moment alone, she asked her husband: “Are you okay?”

Will also appeared on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and attributed the slapping incident to ‘bottled rage.’

He apologized to both Chris and the Academy for his ‘unacceptable behavior.’

In the interview with PEOPLE, Jada also promoted her upcoming memoir titled ‘Worthy,’ which revealed more details about her relationship with the Aladdin star.

Speaking about their marital status, she expressed: “We’re still figuring it out.”

Even though they were separated for seven years, Jada said they still have love for each other.

The actress also shared her admiration for her children, Jaden and Willow, and applauded their positive influence on her, saying: “My children, they’re little gurus. They’ve taught me a deep sense of self-acceptance.”
