Jada Pinkett Smith has been accused of using her estranged husband Will Smith to gain publicity for her book after she announced that they have already been separated for the last seven years.
In recent interviews with the Today show and PEOPLE, she opened up about her relationship with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor, whom she married in 1997.
After she admitted that trying to fix their marriage was ‘exhausting,’ fans were quick to turn against her and accused her of ‘lying’ to both Will and the public.
Fans have now taken to social media, questioning the validity of her words and mentioning Jada’s affair with August Alsina, which started in the same year she said she and the actor broke up.
Her interviews also sparked a new debate about the moment Will slapped comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars to defend her.
Jada told Hoda Kotb on the Today show: “By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”
But fans refuse to believe her claims, with many describing her as a ‘liar’ while others say the 52-year-old just wanted to protect her ‘reputation’ while bringing her husband down in the process.
One person wrote: “No…wait.. Jada is a f***ing liar.”
Another said: “So why have that Red Table Talk like they were together? Man, she needs to drop Smith from her last name and go back to Jada Pinkett.”
A third added: “Whatever decisions Will and Jada made in their marriage is their business. But don’t lie and say that y’all don’t see that this woman has been on a mission to publicly humiliate, manipulate, and emasculate this man for the past few years. It’s just disgusting.”
