The woman said that her husband, Jeff, would get his daughter a cake from a bakery every year. But this year, she wanted to prepare a homemade cake for her stepdaughter.

Her stepdaughter’s favorite flavor is blueberry but she “went to the nearest store and they didn’t have them.”

She explained that she couldn’t get blueberries and she was running out of time so she had no choice but to make a cake without it.

But when her husband noticed that there were no blueberries, he said he ‘should have just ordered one from the bakery.’

Jeff even accused his wife of not ‘fully committing’ to making the birthday cake for his daughter.

“We got into an argument and he ended up taking it and throwing it in the trash can,” she continued.

“I was stunned as he said ‘forget it, I’ll get one from the bakery. I blew up and screamed at him, he told me to stop but I went upstairs, got dressed and left.”

Jeff tried to stop her from leaving but she went to her parents. She later received a text message from him, saying she overreacted and that he and his daughter were hurt when she left.

“My parents say he was justified since he must’ve felt pressured from the stress of making his daughter happy on her birthday,” she added.

Reddit users were quick to share their thoughts on the matter, with many siding with the stepmom.

One person commented: “He went nuclear and threw out your cake?!”

Others tried to understand the husband, with one writing: “His daughter’s mom is deceased, and he feels that he is the parent responsible for making the daughter happy. There is a lot more emotional investment than whether or not there were blueberries. Regardless, I wish he could have reacted more calmly despite whatever emotions he was feeling.”
