A woman has left people divided after she shared the reason why she banned her husband from sleeping in their bed if he refused to take a shower.

Posting on Reddit, the woman explained that she wants to keep things tidy at home so she wants her husband to shower and change into fresh clothes.

“Me and my husband have a constant issue with him going to bed without having a shower. I’ve spoken to him many times and stated that I don’t want him to get into our bed without showering,” she wrote.

The woman then explained why she wanted her husband to take a shower before going to bed.

“Reason is that first hygiene, second, he’s a heavy diesel mechanic who comes home caked in diesel fuel.”

She also shared how she had no choice but to sleep on the sofa one night because of the strong smell her husband emitted after not showering and not brushing his teeth.

She also had to wash their sheets every two days because it became ‘caked’ in dirt.

“He always makes the excuse that he’s too tired and cannot fall asleep straight away after his shower. He most definitely does fall asleep straight after his shower!” she added.

The woman asked others if she was the one in the wrong for demanding he take a shower before sleeping in their shared bed.

One Reddit user commented: “I’d rather be in a two single beds kind of marriage.”

Another wrote: “While I understand that he’s tired his not showering also poses a health risk for both of you. Sleeping in or next to diesel fuel is not healthy. Have you tried approaching it from a health angle? If he still can’t understand the concern, then it’s appropriate to respond.”
