The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s rift with the new Prince and Princess of Wales is about to get worse after the new Netflix show, a royal expert has claimed.
Author Phil Dampier said the nature of the promotional trailer, which was released on the second day of William and Kate’s high-profile visit to the US, suggested that the “rift between the brothers is getting much worse with no reconciliation in sight.”
This comes as Isle of Wight MP Bob Seeley slammed the Sussexes and told Talk TV: “I don’t know what’s gone wrong in their lives, I just think they’re this pathetic, narcissistic, self-indulgent pair, they’re dreadful.”
“Why on earth we allow him to keep his titles if he hates this country and hates the monarchy,” said Mr. Seeley, a sergeant in the British Army who received a Joint Commanders Commendation award in 2009 for his tour in Iraq.
“If I had time I’d be bringing in a private members bill to say if you want to hate monarchy you’re Mr Windsor – jog on, grow up.”
Harry and Meghan’s Netflix teaser included dozens of supposedly private photos from their family album.
The clip features a voiceover from the Duke saying gravely, “no one sees what’s happening behind closed doors,” over a black and white photo of the Duchess who appeared to be crying.
The one-minute video the cuts to a shot focusing on William and Kate at the 2019 Commonwealth Service in London, with the Sussexes sitting behind them.
Meghan also says in the trailer: “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”
Royal sources said that the message is unmistakable.
“I don’t see how anyone could view it as anything other than a declaration of war,” one said.
