Millions of people were left heartbroken after an 89-year-old grandfather filmed himself dressing up for a first date in 30 years only to be stood up.
Joe Allington is currently living with his daughter and her family after he lost his wife in 2009. After three decades, he finally decided to go out and find love again.
He rose to fame during the pandemic when people turned to social media to entertain themselves. He created a TikTok account and has gained more than 6 million followers by performing funny clips.
But one video has left viewers heartbroken after he filmed himself preparing for a first date in 30 years but his date didn’t show up.
In the video, he can be seen dressing up before it showed him sitting patiently at a table in a restaurant. He seemed nervous as he checked his phone to see if the woman canceled their date but after waiting for an hour, it became clear that she won’t show up and he ate alone.
Even though the grandpa enjoyed his meal, his fans were quick to share their sympathies, with one person writing: “You my friend are one of the most respectable people I will see on my fyp [for you page]. Waiting an hour and not badmouthing someone. You are an inspiration.”
Another commented: “Awww I am so so sorry, but you look dashing as always.”
A third said: “Some people are just inconsiderate. Good riddance. You deserve someone kind.”
Many said that they would love to go on a date with the grandpa and that those who stand him up is not worth his time. Others assured him that he will soon find the love he deserves.
