Heavy rainfall has brought severe flooding, and landslides, and also caused fish to fall from the sky in India.
Telangana, an Indian state on the south-central stretch of the Indian peninsula, has experienced monsoons that lead to the issuing of a red alert for 12 districts.
Severe flooding affected millions of residents and national highways have been clogged, causing issues for emergency services trying to reach towns and villages.
Residents were also shocked when they noticed fish falling from the skies. When they went out to check, they found most of them were alive, according to apb LIVE.
One witness took to Twitter and wrote: “Amid heavy rainfall in Telangana, people of Jagtial town witnessed something unique.
“People of Sai Nagar in Jagtial town woke up to a surprise on both Friday and Saturday as they found fish ‘rain’ from the sky.”
The witness continued: “Raining fish is a rare weather phenomenon called as “rain of animals” which happens when small water animals such as frogs, crabs, and small fish are swept into water spouts.”
Many residents were seen risking their lives to collect fish.
One man can be heard saying: “One of the fish farms must have broke open, and there’s hundreds and hundreds of fish that have been blown ashore, and these people are here picking up the fish from the middle of the street.”
Officials said that the weather brought disaster as two members of a family were killed in one of the villages.
According to reports, Mohammad Shafi and his son Abdul Rashid were driving home when their car was hit by a landslide.
In some places, dams have been opened to alleviate the pressure as more days of heavy rain are forecast.
“Keeping in mind the increasing water levels & security, the national highway from Ahmedabad to Mumbai has been shut,” said Amit Prakash Yadav, Regional Commissioner of Municipalities.
“We’ll open the highway as soon as the water level comes down.”
The fish fall was previously reported in Malta after it was hit by a storm.
