A bride-to-be has shared how her fiancé told her to wear a red gown on their wedding because she is no longer pure.
Taking to Reddit, the woman explained that she has been with Ryan for six years and she’s been doing most of the wedding plans.
“So about a month ago Ryan out of nowhere said he was talking to some of his coworkers and thinks that I shouldn’t wear a white dress. This was totally weird to me,” she wrote.
The woman said that Ryan is an artistic guy so she thought his suggestion was more about how their photos would turn out but she still wanted to wear white.
“2 weeks ago I finally picked and paid for my dress and this caused a huge argument,” she went on.
“Ryan again came to me very annoyed. He asked to see the dress I picked, but I said no because I wanted it to be a surprise for our wedding day.”
When he asked her to at least tell him what the color was, she said white and he got furious.
“When I asked him what color he thought I’d be wearing, he told me I should wear red. Again, this was super weird to me,” the bride-to-be continued.
She also said that she didn’t see why the color was a big deal for him. But when she asked him why she would have to wear red, “he told me that brides only wear white when they are pure.”
Ryan, his mother, and the bride-to-be then argued about why her past relationship should be shown in a dress.
“His mom stated that he is no longer a v*rgin either so maybe he should wear red too and he burst out crying,” the woman went on.
“Ryan is still stating that me wearing white would be deceiving all of the guests and that it is different for guys,” she added.
People on Reddit were quick to share their thoughts on the matter, with one person writing: “I love how all this time they’ve been having s*x too and now all of a sudden she has to wear red? What about him? If hes f***ing her he also lost his v*rginity before getting married so shouldn’t he wear red as well?
“What kind of idiots is he talking to that would enforce their to-be wife to wear red to signify she’s not a v*rgin? Girl, run.”
Another wrote: “Break off the engagement permanently. BLOCK him and his friends/family on social media, and move on with your life. There is something fundamentally wrong with this guy and it’s neither your job to diagnose it nor to fix it.”
A third said: “Jesus throw the whole man in the bin. For 6 years has he been planning on getting back at you for not being a virgin at your wedding?”
