Dealing with in-laws can sometimes be difficult, especially when there are always tensions no matter how much you try to be on their good side.

One mom-to-be has shared how she was stuck in the middle of an argument between her in-laws and her brothers after she announced her pregnancy.

She also revealed that she was getting blamed for the quarrel.

Writing on Reddit, the mom-to-be said that the pregnancy news was welcomed by both of their families.

But problems started when she told everyone that they had decided to give the baby her surname instead of her husband’s and her father-in-law quickly disagreed.

Her brothers then defended her and it led to a heated argument within the family.

“He commented that his last name sounded ‘much better’. My brother and a couple of friends responded to him. They told him he was being weird and he insisted it wasn’t weird to expect his grandchild to have HIS last name. My brother called him stupid,” she wrote.

Her husband then received a call from his mother who warned him that they were ‘tired of dealing’ with her.

“She insisted I was in the wrong, I should’ve stuck up for him and I had no reason to be so upset and I am too sensitive,” she added.

The mom-to-be is now wondering if she was the one in the wrong or not.

Reddit users were quick to share their thoughts on the matter, with one person commenting: “Your father-in-law should have kept his old-fashioned values to himself and if he wanted to discuss it with you then he should have kept it off a public forum.”

Another wrote: “The problem you need to address is your boyfriend’s parents and their behavior. You shouldn’t cater to them. You and your boyfriend need to start laying down boundaries and what is acceptable behavior before the kid comes.”
