Jennifer Gaston from Tennessee was having a good time at Florida’s Magic Kingdom Theme Park together with her family when they discovered someone had placed a tracker in her 17-year-old daughter’s stuff.

As Gaston explained, her daughter, Madison, got scared after receiving an iPhone notification saying she was being tracked from 7 to 11 pm using an AirTag tracker.

Apple’s AirTag trackers are commonly used by people to keep track of their pets and belongings such as vehicles, bags, keys, etc.

Such trackers, however, can sadly also be used by stalkers for far more sinister purposes. To prevent this from happening, there is a feature that sends a notification to the nearby iPhone when a tracker is in proximity. Alternatively, Apple also issued an app for Android phones that notifies users when an AirTag is in their proximity.

After receiving such an alert, Madison was left shocked and the family desperately tried to locate the tracker to no avail.

“We were terrified, we were confused, hurt and scared. [Madison] literally watched it follow us from the tram all the way back to our vehicle,” Jennifer said in an interview with Fox 35 Orlando.

“It showed the first destination where it was detected with her, then it basically draws a line and makes the connections of the points where she had been.”

Immediately, the family locked their car doors and called the police. After a thorough search, they also found the tracker in Madison’s stuff.

“As she was refreshing it, it showed the AirTag was still in our parking spot so somehow when we were frantically shaking out clothes and dumping everything out of our bags it fell out,” Jennifer added.

Warning people about the potential misuse of such tracking devices was also Madison who said: “I had seen videos of other people warning people about them and what they were basically. So that’s how I knew what they were and I did not ignore the notification.”

“Definitely do your research and find out what these are. Have proper settings on your phone so that if you do have an AirTag that ends up with you to make sure that your phone will detect it,” her mother added.
