JUST IN: Loyal Dog Walks Behind Beloved Owner’s Coffin As She Makes Her Way To Cemetery, Leaving People In Tears


A loyal dog who was photographed walking behind the coffin of her beloved owner has been leaving many people in tears.

Bessie, a golden retriever, led mourners to Killashee Cemetery in County Longford, Ireland, after her owner, Margo Magan, passed away at the age of 94.

Margo was surrounded by her family when she died at Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar on December 30.

The mother of 12 is remembered as a renowned swimmer, table tennis player, and golfer.

According to Irish Mirror, she was named Longford Golf Club Lady Captain in 1971 and also became the club’s First Lady President in 1996.

Taking to Twitter, her grieving son Mike Magan shared a photo of Bessie and wrote: “We said our final goodbye to our remarkable mum Margo at 94. She loved her dog. Mother of 12.

“Champion swimmer, holder of many titles/records, top golfer, 1st female president of a golf club in Ireland. Active until recently having swam Xmas day 3 years ago. Legend.”

The heartbreaking photo was taken by Margo’s grandniece, Tamara Gervasi, as they walked to the cemetery for burial.

Loved ones shared their condolences on Twitter. One wrote: “Incredible, powerful and poignant picture. Sincerest sympathies on the loss of your mum, may she rest in peace.”

Another wrote: “Sending all the love Mike. Margo was a force of nature and Killashee will seem weird without her I’m sure.”

A third said: “RIP. So sorry to read this. Condolences to your family and her faithful dog following her.”

Others who did not know Margo also shared their sympathies, with one writing: “Lost my mum almost 6 years ago. Think about her every single day. What a fantastic picture.
