Demi Lovato has finally revealed the real reason why she decided to change her pronouns back from they/them to she/her.
The 31-year-old singer has remained under the spotlight not only in the music industry but also social discussions about gender.
Last year, the actress took to Twitter and announced their then-new non-binary identity: “Every day we wake up, we are given another opportunity & chance to be who we want & wish to be. I’ve spent the majority of my life growing in front of all of you… you’ve seen the good, the bad, & everything in between.”
Lovato went on: “I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering.”
In August 2022, the Camp Rock star appeared on the Spout podcast and elaborated more on the subject.
She said that her first pronoun change was a way to express the ‘fluidity’ she felt in her ‘gender expression.’
“When I was faced with the choice of walking into a bathroom and it said women and men, I didn’t feel like there was a bathroom for me because I didn’t feel necessarily like a woman. I didn’t feel like a man. I just felt like a human.”
In a new update to her Instagram bio, the singer has changed back to using she/her pronouns and explained a shift towards feeling more like a woman.
“I think what’s important is, like, nobody’s perfect. Everyone messes up pronouns at some point, and especially when people are learning, it’s just all about respect,” she expressed.
