Chrissy Teigen has left fans shocked after she discovered that she might have an identical twin.
The 37-year-old model took to Instagram and described her ‘insane 24 hours’ after she received her DNA test results.
She explained that she was trying to look into her genetic history to ‘figure out a lot about my past’ and as part of her ‘journey of health and wellness.’
But Teigen was stunned when she got her DNA results from 23AndMe as it showed that she had a 100% genetic match with an ‘identical twin.’
“And the first thing that came up after I found out that I was part Neanderthal, was this: I have an identical twin. That has to be a joke, right?” she expressed.
She also said that she contacted her dad to ask if she did have a long-lost identical twin.
“Honestly, at this point, I’m spiraling,” she said.
Teigen continued: “I call my dad and I literally say, ‘Dad, hey, did you see me come out of Mom’s vag*na and were there two of me?’
“He starts laughing and saying, ‘No, I was there. There were not two of you.’ And I was like, ‘Are you sure you were there?’”
“At this point, I’m making excuses for my whole life. This is why I’m so co-dependent because my twin was ripped away from me. I’ve always felt something missing, and this is why I have addiction issues,” she added.
The model then called her older sister Tina and they finally figured out what had happened.
“My sister was like, ‘Chrissy, no,’” adding that her sister reminded her that the family had all taken DNA tests before for their appearance on the PBS series Finding Your Roots.
While her episode was never aired, her DNA test was submitted under an alias to protect her privacy. This meant that her ‘twin’ was herself as she matched with the DNA profile she had previously submitted.
