A man has shared how his wife got mad at him after he changed their baby girl’s name behind her back.
Taking to Reddit, the father explained that before trying for children, he and his wife agreed that he could name their firstborn son and she could name their firstborn daughter.
“My wife and I just had our second child, a baby girl. The only thing we didn’t agree on was middle names,” he wrote.
He said that his wife wanted to decide both of their children’s middle names because she had carried them.
She also wanted to pass on a family traditional name on her mom’s side and also pass on her paternal grandmother’s middle name.
“Our first child, a boy, has the family’s traditional middle name from her mother’s side. It’s a unisex name that always goes to the firstborn child,” he went on.
The father also explained that he did not care about the middle name until their daughter was born.
“I asked her if we could give the baby my grandmother’s middle name and she said no,” he continued. “We fought but I gave up. Until the nurse came in with the papers to name the child.
“My wife was passed out asleep and the nurse just asked if we had a name picked out.
“I said yes and filled out the form with my grandmother’s middle name. When my wife woke up an hour later I decided to tell her the truth immediately instead of hide it.”
His wife was furious and they got into a heated argument. She’s been giving him the silent treatment and claimed that she would be changing their daughter’s name.
Wondering if he was the one in the wrong, he took to Reddit and asked others for their opinions.
One Reddit user said: “I think your grandmother would be ashamed of you for being a sneaky a***ole. Your wife was probably still in pain after giving birth instead of being there to comfort her, you pull this move.”
Another wrote: “Your wife just gave birth and passed out and you use it as an opportunity to get your way in an argument? You two seriously need to work on your conflict resolution skills, this is so bad.”
