Fans were left devastated after Celine Dion canceled her Courage World Tour because of her condition.
It was in December last year when the singer was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome.
In a heartbreaking video on Instagram, she told her fans: “Hello everyone, I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to reach out to you,” she said.
Dion continued: “I miss you all so much and can’t wait to be on stage talking to you in person.
“I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time and it has been really difficult for me to face my challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through.
“Recently I’ve been diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called the stiff person syndrome which affects 1 in a million people.”
Speaking about how the condition affects her life, the singer said: “Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal chords to sing the way I’m used to.”
Now, Dion has made the difficult decision to cancel the entire Courage World Tour amid her ongoing battle with the disease.
“I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again,” she expressed. “I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%.”
According to the National Institutes of Health, stiff-person syndrome is a rare, progressive neurological disorder.
Symptoms include stiff muscles in the arms, legs, and torso, and greater sensitivity to touch and noise.
People with the condition can be too disabled to move or walk, or they are terrified to go outside because of street noises which can trigger spasms and fall.
