It was in 2022 when the Unbreakable star retired from acting after his family revealed that he was diagnosed with aphasia, a disorder that affects speaking, reading, writing, or understanding speech due to brain damage.

However further tests showed that he has frontotemporal dementia. Since his diagnosis, the action star’s family has shared posts on social media about his progress to help raise awareness of the degenerative brain disease.

The 29-year-old appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show and said: “He has a really aggressive cognitive disease, a form of dementia that is very rare.

“I think it’s twofold, I think on one hand it’s who we are as a family, but also it’s really important for us to spread awareness about FTD because we had no idea.”

“I see love when I’m with him, and it’s my dad, and he loves me.”
