Britney Spears has left her fans heartbroken after she asked God when she will ‘smile again’ after being slapped by an NBA star’s security guard.
The 41-year-old singer reportedly filed a report after she was hit in the face by the security guard while in a Las Vegas restaurant with her husband, Sam Ashgari.
Spears explained that she tried to approach Victor Wembanyama to ask for a photo but when she tapped him on the shoulder, Damian Smith – the Director of Team Security for the San Antonio Spurs – hit her.
The NBA star claimed that the singer ‘grabbed’ him from behind and prompted the security to intervene but a video shared online seems to back up Spears’ version of the story.
In the video obtained by TMZ, Spears can be seen running to Wembanyama while saying, “Sir! Sir!”
She can be seen tapping the player when the security suddenly slapped her, causing her glasses to fall off.
One of the group can be heard yelling: “That’s Britney Spears!”
Smith reportedly approached the singer at her table and apologized, mentioning the pressures of fan attention.
After the news broke, Spears addressed the incident numerous time and said that she has never seen security treat a fan that way despite experiencing being flooded by fans herself.
In a heartbreaking post on Instagram, the singer shared a quote that read: “You will smile again,” before she added in the caption: “When’s that God???”
TMZ reported that the singer accepted Smith’s apology but her team decided to escalate the matter by filing a formal complaint with the Metropolitan Police Department and accused the guard of battery.
The investigation concluded without any charges being filed.
