The A Star is Born actor has been living with his mom Gloria Campano for more than a decade now. He decided to be with her after his father, Charles Cooper, was diagnosed with lung cancer.

The 48-year-old even decided to take a break from acting to spend more time with his parents.

Cooper wanted to surround his sick dad with attention and love as his health continued to deteriorate. But only five months after moving into his parent’s home, his dad passed away from lung cancer.

The actor then asked his mother if she would like to move in with him in Los Angeles.

In a 2013 interview with LA Times, he said: “My family is very close, and my dad dying was brutal for all of us. It was a schism, and its aftershock has not stopped.”

He continued: “And we need each other. So here we are. But don’t get me wrong. It’s not without complications. It’s not like I live in a compound and she’s in the guesthouse. No. She’s in the next room.

“But here’s the thing: She’s a cool chick. We can hang, and she can roll with the punches. If that wasn’t the case, there’s no way.”

During the pandemic in 2020, the two were still living together.

In a discussion with Anthony Ramos for Interview Magazine, Cooper explained: “I’m with my daughter and my mother and my two dogs, and we have not left the house. My mother is going to be 80, and she has a colostomy bag, so I can’t let anybody in the house. And I can’t leave the house, because if she gets it, it’s over.”
