Amber Heard, 36, could face another legal battle after losing her defamation trial against Johnny Depp.
The Aquaman star is the subject of a perjury investigation in Australia after she brought her two dogs with her to Queensland in 2015 despite being ‘repeatedly’ told that it would be illegal.
The former couple reportedly broke the country’s quarantine and biosecurity laws by not declaring their Yorkshire terriers, Boo and Pistol, when they arrived from the US.
In July 2015, Heard was charged with two counts of illegally importing the animals but the case was later closed in April 2016 after she pleaded guilty to falsifying travel documents, ET Canada reported.
Kevin Murphy, who worked for Depp for almost 8 years, alleged that Heard had ‘demanded’ he make a false statement about the dogs being ‘smuggled.’
He also claimed that the actress had asked him to reach out to her former assistant Kate James and to ask her to ‘lie under oath’ to an Australian court.
Depp and Heard recorded a video in 2016 apologizing for doing so and she expressed remorse for her actions.
The video was slammed online, with many fans saying the pair looked like they had been abducted and held to ransom.
On Tuesday, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment said that it was “investigating allegations of perjury by Ms Heard during court proceedings for the 2015 illegal importation of two dogs into Australia.”
The spokesperson said that the case was ‘ongoing.’
This comes after a Virginia court found Heard defamed her ex-husband and she was ordered to pay the 59-year-old actor $10.35 million.
