Little Things

Pit bulls get a bad reputation for being bully breed dogs.

They’re large and muscular with wide jaws that open up to a large bite—or a large smile depending how you look at it.

But one man discovered the love beneath the tough exterior when his daughter formed a fierce bond with a pit bull named Zack.

A couple cared for a pair of dogs before they had their daughter. Zack was a pit bull lab mix who did not mix well with the man. As soon as their daughter was born, he worried that the dog might hurt their baby.

When they brought their daughter home, the dogs were curious about her, especially Zack. He would not stop licking her face; his infatuation with her was instant. Zack became the pit bull protector.

From then on, the dog watched over the daughter. He guarded her when she laid on the floor, walked her to bed, and waited for her by the stairs. The two were inseparable.

Tragically, when the girl was only five years old, a few neighborhood kids poisoned Zack. He passed away and the family was filled with grief. The little girl always had Zack by her side; who would look over her now?
