An official has shared heartbreaking pictures of trash bins filled with fresh foods as hoarders continue panic buying amid the coronavirus crisis.

As Liberal Democrat Derby Councilor Ajit Singh Atwal suggested with his photos, some people have been very inefficient in managing massive amounts of foods they’ve bought for the times of lockdown.

“To all the people in this great city of ours in Derby, if you have gone out & panic bought like a lot of you have & stacked up your houses with unnecessary items you don’t normally buy or you have bought in more food than you need, then you need to take a good look @ yourself,” the councilor wrote on Twitter where he shared his photos.point 599 | 1

After the pictures of overflowing wheelie bins went viral, people were quick to slam panic buyers for wasting food and suggested it could be used to feed those who are hungry.

However, some have explained that there could be other reasons not related to panic buying behind the bins filled with food.

On a more positive note, some people are going the extra mile to ensure they bring smiles on the faces of people who self-isolated during the pandemic.

One such hero is postman Jon Matson from the UK who dresses up in fancy, and sometimes downright adorable, costumes to cheer up the people he delivers mail to.

“Everyone is uncertain at the moment and you are the only person outside of the family that they see, so why not give them something to smile about,” Mr. Matson said in an interview with Sunderland Echo.

“It’s really nice to see people come out to see me… seeing everybody helps me keep my spirits up too.”
