Two Police Officers Fired After Their Facebook Post About Ocasio-Cortez Went Viral

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should be shot was fired along with another officer who ‘liked’ the post.

Officer Charlie Rispoli from the Gretna Police Department in Louisiana shared a fake story about Ocasio-Cortez on his Facebook page and wrote: “This vile idiot needs a round and I don’t mean the kind she used to serve.”

The news story he read falsely quoted AOC and her thoughts on the budget.  His status update implied that AOC should be shot while stressing her former job as a bartender.

Officer Angelo Varisco then ‘liked’ Rispoli’s post before it was deleted.

Gretna Police Chief Arthur Lawson said during a press conference that the Facebook post was disgusting and disturbing.

“The officer, I spoke to him personally just to try to find out why. I just couldn’t understand,” Lawson stated. “I think he just got caught up in the moment. This wasn’t even a real news article.”

He said that both officers worked as court security. He now wants the rest of police officers in his department to receive social media training.

The police chief also said: “Whether you agree or disagree with the message of these elected officials and how frustrated you may or may not get, this certainly is not the type of thing that a public servant should be posting.”

People called for Rispoli to be held accountable or be fired after his post went viral.
