A veteran police officer has been suspended after sharing an offensive ‘All Lives Splatter’ meme on social media following a deadly BLM protest in Seattle.
Detective Mike Brown is a Seattle resident who has been working for the police for four decades. Now, however, the veteran officer has been suspended after sharing an offensive meme shortly after a female protester was killed as a man plowed into a group of demonstrators with his car.
In the meme shared by Brown, a person is seen getting struck by a vehicle along with the text “All lives splatter” and “Keep your a** off the road.”
According to screenshots of some of Brown’s Facebook comments shared by KING 5 TV, the cop also appeared to mock the Seattle protest in one of the comments by writing: “I see a couple of people got infected with Covid-19 from the hood of a car on I-5 last night.”
After the cop’s comments and the post with the meme went viral, King County Sheriff Mitzi G. Johanknecht vowed to investigate the officer’s acts.
“I will take swift action to thoroughly investigate when the conduct of Sheriff’s Office members fails to reflect our core values and violates Sheriff’s Office policy,” he said in a statement during which he confirmed that Brown has been suspended.
Speaking of the insensitive meme was also Matt, the father of Summer Taylor, the 24-year-old protester who died during the Seattle protest on Saturday, who told Seattle Times that the cop in question should be fired.
“I think anybody who was liking, sharing it or doing anything else with it should be fired. I think that’s beyond obvious. It’s disgusting and it’s unfathomable to me,” he said.
