On April 2nd 2016, a frantic mother reported her little son, Joshua, missing to the police in Fort Worth, Texas. Unfortunately, only a few minutes after making that call, she came across a horrific sight. Her young son had drowned in the backyard pool. Police Officer Damon Cole was the first on the heartbreaking scene. He immediately rushed to the pool and pulled Joshua from the water. He desperately tried to revive Joshua, but sadly nothing worked. Joshua had passed on to heaven.

On that fateful day, Joshua was wearing a Spider-Man T-shirt and Spider-Man styled sneakers. Officer Cole noticed and afterwards learned that Spider-Man was Joshua’s favorite superhero.

As Joshua’s funeral neared, the grieving family asked Officer Cole if he could do a special tribute for Joshua. Officer Cole was honored to help them find peace.

Memories of that horrific day are always on Officer Cole’s mind. “There’s not a minute that has gone by that I haven’t though about Joshua and his family,” Officer Cole told a local Dallas news station.

This isn’t the first time that Officer Cole has dressed up in a superhero costume. He is known to visit many kids suffering from cancer dressed up as superheroes. These visits are a happy change for the children. When Joshua’s family asked him to wear one of them to the funeral in honor of Joshua, Officer Cole was proud to do it.
