The DC Police Department confirmed on Twitter that Officer Daniel Hodges is now recovering and ‘doing well’ after the ordeal last week.

Officer Hodges was filmed being crushed against a metal door as rioters forced their way through barricades and a line of cops guarding the entrance to the building.

The young cop was seen desperately screaming for “Help!” with blood dripping from his face.

Hodges told NBC 4 that he was still suffering from a “headache that wouldn’t quit” but said that he was getting enough rest and “looking forward to getting back out there.”

Metropolitan Police Department Chief Robert Contee said in a press conference last week that the cop had been hurt but the injuries were not life-threatening.

“He’ll be out for a while,” he told CNN. “The officer is obviously very sore.”

The officer’s name was revealed on Monday in a Twitter post responding to a thoughtful letter written to him by 10-year-old Emma Jablonski from Montana.

“Dear Officer, I’m Emma and I’m 10 years old. I hope you heal from being crushed. I feel bad for you,” the letter reads. “Those people are really bad hurting you. I hope you and your family are nice and healthy.

“When I saw the video on CNN about people crushing you with a door I almost cried,” adding: “Get Well. – Emma.”

The Metropolitan Police Department shared the letter on Twitter and thanked the young girl for her “kind words.”

“Just wanted to let you know Officer Hodges is recovering and doing well,” the PD replied. “We’ll [message] you an address of where to send it!”

NBC Washington later arranged a Zoom call for Officer Hodges and Emma.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much,” Hodges expressed. “I’m kinda … banged up but I’m looking forward to getting back out there.”
