Officer Facing The Sack After Mocking George Floyd’s Death In A ‘Hateful’ Stunt


A corrections officer from New Jersey has been facing the sack after reenacting George Floyd’s death as a part of a mockery stunt that took place in opposition to the rally against police brutality.

The incident occurred in Franklin Township, New Jersey, where demonstrators gathered to protest police brutality and issue calls for racial justice.

Answering the demonstrators were counter-protesters armed with American flags and signs that read ‘All Lives Matter.’

Two of the counter-protesters also appeared to be mocking George Floyd’s death, whereas one was seen kneeling on the neck of the other while looking towards the road and the protesters.

After the footage of the counter-rally went viral, one of the members involved has been identified as Joseph DeMarco, a New Jersey corrections officer.

Following the finding, the Corrections Department announced that the officer in question “was placed on non-pay status pending a due process hearing as part of the regular procedure for government unionized employees.”

In addition, the correction officers’ union suspended DeMarco from the body and expressed that they “do not support any member of this association that does anything outside the scope of our duties as Correctional Police Officers” according to NBC News.

Following the incident, FedEx reported that one of their employees, who is believed to be the corrections officer’s brother, had also participated in the counter-protest and claimed that the worker had been fired.

Slamming the stunt as “hateful” and “disappointing,” the Department of Corrections suggested that “removal charges have been served on the DOC officer involved in the video mocking the killing of George Floyd.”
