15-year-old Makhia Bryant, the teen who called for help, was rushed to Mount Carmel East hospital where she was pronounced dead at 5:21 pm, WCMH reported.

“She was a good kid,” the teen’s aunt, Hazel Bryant, said. “She was loving. She was 15 years old. She didn’t deserve to die like a dog in the street.”

A witness said that the 15-year-old got into an argument with another resident at a foster home. She was armed with a knife to defend herself when police arrived at the scene.

Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation was then requested to respond to the scene and investigate the shooting.

BLM protesters gathered at the crime scene and called for action after witnesses detailed what led to the fatal shooting.

Many people could be seen praying while others shouted at the police for shooting the teen – only moments after the verdict for former cop Derek Chauvin was announced.

Shonnell Kelley, who shared videos from the shooting on Facebook, said in one video: “This is the racist a*s b***h, that shot this poor f*****g girl. ‘m not going to put this sh*t on camera but he shot this f*****g girl, talking about she is trying to stab him. Da f**k, this is somebody’s f****g daughter. B***h.”

Kelley also said in the post that the young girl had a knife because “somebody tried to jump her,” adding she was the one who called police.

Kelley said that the cop “didn’t tell her to put it (knife) down and didn’t ask questions or nothing.”

The girl’s aunt, Hazel Bryant, said that Makhia dropped the knife before the cop shot her dead.

According to 10TV, Makhia called police because she and another resident of the home were fighting in front of their house.

“This afternoon a young woman tragically lost her life. We do not know all of the details,” Columbus mayor Andrew Ginther said on Twitter. “There is body-worn camera footage of the incident. We are working to review it as soon as possible.”

“BCI is on the scene conducting an independent investigation as they do with all CPD-involved shootings. We will share information that we can as soon as it becomes available. I’m asking for residents to remain calm and allow BCI to gather the facts,” he added.
