Following the government’s conclusion that people who refuse to wear face masks in the public should be fined $200, a series of anti-maskers were seen in viral videos protesting the order and defying the authorities responsible for enforcing the law.

“I don’t care how uncomfortable you think your face mask is. I’m wearing one all day. I don’t want to wear one all day,” Sam Bates of Melbourne ICU Research Unit said in an interview with ABC’s 7.30.

“So please, if you have to wear one when you go out in public, just for half an hour or an hour, please do so. Every little bit helps.”

In another powerful message, emergency nurse Abbey Fistrovic suggested “it’s disheartening” to see people refusing to wear face masks while COVID-19 cases continue to soar.

“I just saw our numbers which are up again and it’s disheartening because I have the mask pushing all over my face and just being highly uncomfortable and just thinking, when is this ever going to end?” the Royal Melbourne nurse expressed.

Joining the debate was also emergency nurse Mel Pearson who claimed frontliners are often dehydrated because they can’t or don’t have the time to remove their face coverings during their shifts.

Previously, in July, another nurse, Jemma Hilliard, slammed the public for complaining about having to wear face masks and flouting lockdown rules in her Facebook post.

“COVID isn’t polite enough to step back and not infect you because you want to speak to someone in person or on the phone and you ‘simply can’t deal with simultaneously wearing a mask.’ Man The F*** Up,” Hilliard said in her video.

“This is not about COVID-19 the virus, this is about COVID-19 the pandemic. It’s you, the dumb, selfish Victorians who are actually killing us.”
